The government has announced that it is to consult on allowing larger domestic extensions
The government is proposing to double the size of the permitted single storey extension that is currently allowed without planning permission; from 3 metres for a terraced or semi-detached house to 6 metres, and from 4 metres for a detached house, up to 8 metres. A consultation will take place in the next few months before it becomes planning law. These are controversial plans and it will be interesting to see the outcome.

The scheme will incorporate leisure and recreational facilities, as well as a large restaurant. The six storey scheme will include some luxury penthouse flats to the top floor with far reaching views. We are planning to enter into pre application discussions with the council within the next few months and aim to submit a full planning application at the start of 2013.

Ideal Planning & Design have recently submitted a planning application for the demolition of an existing detached house in Surrey and replacement with a large contemporary home spread over 7000sqft.
The planning application follows extensive discussions with Reigate and Banstead Council and consultation with neighbouring property owners. The new building will provide the private client with a high specification modernist house with landscaped grounds. Following grant of planning permission, Ideal Planning & Design will start work on detailed construction drawings and building regulations and the project should start construction later in the year.
